Jailhouse Accommodation was rated #1 in New Zealand and Oceania at the 2009 Hoscars, and it’s not hard to see why. This quirky, clean, comfortable and quiet hostel is set in a historic former jail. It’s located about 20 minutes’ walk from the Arts Centre, Christchurch Art Gallery, Canterbury Museum and the Botanic Gardens and is surrounded by a variety of bars and cafes. We like their friendly and very helpful staff, who have a great knowledge of the area.

?Stay in Jail!? In 2008-2010 gekozen door de schrijvers van Lonely Planet en Rough Guide 2008. Top middelgroot BBH hostel in NZ 2007,2008, 2009. Wi-Fi. Gratis parking. Vlakbij het treinstation. Prachtig gerenoveerde historische accommodatie met een kleurrijke geschiedenis. Schoon, gezellig en gastvrij.

The building was really coo´l and there was a big kitchen. It's a 25min walk to the center but there is also a bus in front of the hostel. Really liked staying here!
