At first I was sceptical about the negative reviews. However, after my stay I completely understand. Hostel is very run down. The shower is a suicide shower, with loose hanging wires. Showerhead was hanging and could not be attached to the wall, which made it impossible to shower. Atmosphere wasn’t great: a lot of employees with only very few guests, but when you need someone, there is no one at the desk. I understand that you can’t expect hotel service at a hostel, but it wasn’t worth the money

Great hostel for young people, locals also go here. Actual security good, although it doesn’t seem that secure as everybody is really relaxed. Some things could be a bit cleaner.
Food was great. Diverse menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner and the taste is great.
Booze cruise organized by the hostel is really recommended. It is not like a mass tourism thing, as Tulia is the only one doing it right now. And it’s “just†the regular boat trip to Mombasa Marine Park including some nice drinks!

My boyfriend and I stayed in the hammockbeds. Even though we couldn't sleep in one together because that is too small, we liked it a lot. Every bed has its own mosquitonets. The sand is actually very handy because when it rains it doesn't get muddy like grass would. The bathrooms are cleaned more than ones a day and the food from the kitchen is great. I just wished there was an area where you could cook for yourself because that'll save a lot of money. The beach is incredibly nearby.
