Our wonderful small town of Te Anau is the gateway to some of New Zealand’s most outstanding outdoor experiences, and Te Anau Lakefront Backpackers is the perfect place to explore it all from.
Located on the lakefront and just five-minutes’ walk from the shops, you can take in the views, cook outside or in, and kick back in our gardens to the sounds of native birds.
We also have everything you need to get set for the great outdoors or recover after an epic day in the elements, including secure storage, laundry, comfy beds, free Wifi, movie room and a travel desk manned by our friendly, helpful staff who love to explore just as much as you.
Reception is open daily until 8PM, and late check-in can be arranged if you contact us beforehand.

Nice place close to the beach with all what you need from a hostel, beds are good!

We stayed in the tipi and enjoyed our stay so much! Lovely spacious and organized kitchen, bathrooms on the camp ground are also truly amazing. Nice beds in the tipi's and everything felt very clean. Great place to relax after busy Queenstown.

It was a very nice location with the best view!
Cosy living room and clean kitchen.
However the room was really smelly and the beds were not that great..
