Catch the Ella Train Hostel

The best place to stay! Asanka is a great host and we had the best time ever! He not only let us enjoy his cute house away from the busyness of Kandy, but also showed us the area in a great day trip. We had so much fun with him and his kind heart. His aunties make the best food which you can enjoy in the hostel and Asanka knows the best local places to eat Sri Lankan food such as Kottu. Overall you should definitely stay here, it is a once in a lifetime experience!

Easily the most unique and authentic hostel I’ve ever stayed in. Asanka is much more than just a host - for the two days I stayed he was my friend and local guide, and he genuinely cared about showing me how people in Sri Lanka really live. Nice break from the hustle and bustle of Kandy, Asanka will make sure you get on the Train to Ella which is great! Very authentic feel to the accommodation, and I was lucky enough to get a free upgrade because I was the only guest 11/10
