The El Zopilote Hostel and Permaculture Farm is a backpackers hostel and a permaculture farm at the same time. We offer various types of hospitality like private rooms, dormitories, camping areas and hammocks. We organise many activities like free yoga , permaculture courses, cacao ceremonies, volcanoes tours, massages , workshops and lots of other activities. We have a vegetarian and vegan farm to table restaurant open all day and Tue and Sat we have Pizza night party, with fire shows, dancing, natural cocktails and fun.
We are in the Nicaraguan Ometepe Island, in the area of Santa Cruz / Madronal, in the Maderas volcano, one km before Balgue. We are located near to some of the best and finest attractions of the area such as Volcano Maderas, Volcano Concepcion and Playa Santa Cruz, amongst other interesting spots of our location. The farm is 300m from the main road and that keep the place an oasis of peace...

Everything has been built or planned to be immersed in the natural environment and to respect it greatly. Our great variety of choices means that our hospitality is accessible to all kinds of people and budgets.
The hostel is located in a slope and there is always some breeze that keeps the rooms naturally fresh and ventilated so we don't need to waist energy in using fans and definitely no air conditioner.
Bring a flash light for the night, there are lights in all the huts but the footpaths that connect them have few lights to keep the habitat more natural.

This spot is very interesting. The concept is cool and if you are really into the hippi lifestyle and back to basic this is def your place. If not then absolutely don’t go! There is only electricity at reception where you can supposedly safely charge your stuff, which isnt true cause my chargers got stolen. The rooms are unclean and very far out. My friend was 15 min from reception and a dog was sleeping in her bed and my dorm did not even have walls. I would never go again.

Don't go here! We waited for 2 hours (!) to get checked in. Than, after, an insanely rude guy walked us to our room. He didn't even speak to us. We had a private room, but the hygiene was far to be found. We even ended up with bedbugs... Also, we stayed above the kitchen and it sounded like people were in our room when they started preparing at 6 am.
The food at zopilote is also super gross. Our breakfast tasted like it was spoiled. Don't save up those extra euros! Its not worth it!

De plek is mooi, midden in de natuur. Doordat het in de natuur is, heb je ook overal beesten, compost wc's en buitendouches (zonder deur). Dat hoort erbij. De sfeer is fijn, maar persoonlijk vond ik het eten wat aan de dure kant, de Pizza avonden overrated en weinig keuze in drinken. Er waren ook continu dubbele boekingen waardoor mensen geen slaapplaats hadden terwijl ze wel gereserveerd hadden.
