La Chimba Hostel is set in the charming bohemian neighbourhood of Barrio Bellavista, just five minutes from La Chascona and the nearest metro station. Hostelworld guests have said the private rooms have ‘all the amenities of a hotel with more character’ and that they’d recommend this hostel because it has ‘many open places to sit, mingle and drink’. This laid-back hostel has an outdoor terrace, clean comfortable beds and friendly staff who like to socialise with guests, hosting pub crawls, BBQs and more.

La Chimba Hostel has been a favorite of international backpackers and wanderers visiting Santiago since we first opened in 2005. With all of Santiago’s popular attractions within walking distance and a bar full of like-minded travellers - La Chimba is the place to be for backpackers visiting Chile’s capital. Immerse yourself in Santiago’s historic past and soak up the atmosphere at this 100 year old house turned lively hostel in the heart of vibrant Barrio Bellavista.
Over the years our popular hostel has been distinguished with Hostelworld's HOSCAR award a number of times, including Best Hostel in Latin America and 3rd Best Hostel World-Wide.
La Chimba’s bustling bar is the place to be for cheap AF beer, daily drink specials, beer pong, events and hanging out with travellers from around the world. Our bar also features an art gallery displaying fine artwork from local and international artists.
NEIGHBORHOOD
Our central, artsy neighborhood is packed with the city’s best bars, restaurants and nightclubs. You will be five minute walks from ATMs, money exchange, grocery shops, fruit markets, handicrafts, tour agencies, fast food, coffee shops and even Taco Trucks. Additionally, Barrio Bellavista is served by the Baquedano Metro Hub Station which provides the most connectivity of the entire underground transportation system.

Whatever your budget we’ve got mixed, female-only dorms and private rooms to suit. All our beds have quality spring-mattresses. Bed linen is provided and each bed comes with a backpack-sized locker to keep your belongings safe.

Super gezellig hostel met dagelijks leuke activiteiten. De bedden zijn ingebouwd in een soort pods, dat geeft extra privacy maar het wordt daardoor wel warm. Mijn matras was oncomfortabel, maar verder een top hostel.

Really festive and relaxed hostel with a lot of nice sitting area’s outside and inside. This way there is always a quiet place and a place to party. The hostel hosts activities every night of the week and is located in the nice Bellavista area full of bars and clubs.

Really beautifull hostel. Atmosfere is great! Bathrooms and common rooms where cleaned daily. Only thing I didn't like whas that the wifi didn't work in my room as well as the power outlet by my bed. Also the 6 bunk room and it's lockers where kinda small. Would stay there again tho

Barrio Bellavista es indiscutiblemente el barrio más interesante de Santiago en lo que se refiere a lugares de interés cultural y animada vida nocturna. Esta zona es un oasis de coloridas casas bajas de arquitectura colonial en medio de calles arboladas y un ambiente de pueblo a sólo unos pasos de la Plaza Italia, el Times Square de Santiago. La estación de metro Baquedano se encuentra muy cerca y es la estación con mejores conexiones de toda la red de metro de la ciudad. Particularmente recomiendo visitar el Cerro San Cristóbal (donde se encuentra el Parque Metropolitano, un cerro alto con un teleférico y unas vistas impresionantes de la ciudad) además de la antigua casa de Pablo Neruda que está abierta a los visitantes. Ambos lugares se encuentran a menos de dos manzanas de nuestro albergue. Nuestras instalaciones están adaptadas para atender a personas con discapacidad y el albergue es también perfecto para gente que viaja sola o parejas que buscan un ambiente social donde conocer a otros viajeros y disfrutar de la cultura y la vida nocturna de Santiago.
